You can take part in Humanistan!

We’re partnering with our friends at Theatre Absolute to produce displays of messages of hope in two central Coventry locations.

The ‘Humanistan’ project fits our Connecting for Good Cov movement’s aim to spark action against isolation.

The works, to be produced by local people, will appear in Theatre Absolute’s windows in Coventry city centre and Grapevine’s offices in Spon End, a few minutes walk away. Our windows are easily identifiable as those of Moira’s Wet Fish Shop – the building’s former commercial tenant and the end section of a medieval terrace.

The human experiences of Covid are driving our commitment to social action in the city more powerfully than ever before. While ‘Istan’ is defined as a country, land or place.

Project producer Julia Negus hopes the provocations (a provocation is something intended to provoke thoughts, ideas and actions) will create, “a display of positive images and messages for everyone in Coventry, especially at such a difficult time.”

Humanistan also reflects Grapevine’s involvement in Coventry’s City of Culture 2021. We’re one of four community organisations working closely with the Trust to ensure all Coventry voices are represented in the celebrations from May next year.

Here’s how you can get involved…

Thinkers and doers needed
No specific skills required but energy and enthusiasm are essential. This is an opportunity for contributors to write, draw and doodle positive messages to let fellow Coventrians know that we care. No larger than A4 size but can be as small as a post-it note!

Post them to: Theatre Absolute, Shop Front Theatre, 38 City Arcade, Coventry CV1 3HW. Include your name, contact and also a self-addressed envelope if you’d like your contribution to be returned.

Intrigued by #ConnectingforGoodCov? Why not drop us a line via the website? Click here. Or come to our community summit on 28 November… We’d love to see you there.
