The Big Freeze: 30 Days of Cold Plunges for the Survivor Sanctuary Fundraiser

Friday 20th February was World Day of Social Justice, but for many survivors, "justice" is a word that rings hollow. I’m starting 30 cold plunges to raise £1,000 for the Survivor Sanctuary Fundraiser. I'll be doing cold plunges in my garden and wild swimming, ending on 23 March, the second anniversary of my trial.

I want to be honest: the justice system gave me nothing but trauma and pain and the aftermath is nothing that I could have prepared for. Being cross-examined changed me beyond recognition. I’m still finding my way back to myself.

Survivor Sanctuary exists so that survivors aren’t left alone with the aftermath. We’re survivor-led peer support and community spaces rooted in kindness, choice and care. Survivor Sanctuary was founded in 2022.

We need funds because keeping survivor-led support going is hard and hugely under-resourced.
